Ideas do grow through imagination. But their starting block is normally a simple fact, detail or opinion. Or, put another way, a message. When our communication fails to progress beyond information, and we don’t change it into idea form, we should not be surprised that response is slow.

There is no such thing as a new idea. It is impossible. We simply take a lot of old ideas and put them into a sort of mental kaleidoscope. We give them a turn and they make new and curious combinations.
